Mark your calendars for the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet as we “Cheers to the Years” on Thursday, January 21, 2027, at the iconic National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. This special evening will celebrate the achievements of 2026, honor the incredible community partners who make South Oklahoma City such a vibrant place to live and work, and look ahead to an exciting year to come. We will also celebrate the retirement of Elaine Lyons, honoring her remarkable 24 years of dedication and service to the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and the community. The Annual Banquet will feature the installation ceremony for the 2027 Board of Directors and spotlight outstanding individuals through our distinguished awards program. Join us as we honor the 2026 Volunteer of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, Citizen of the Year, and our 2027 Native Oklahoman Award Recipient, Gerald McCoy. Gerald McCoy is a former NFL defensive tackle who dominated interior lines for 13 seasons, earning six Pro Bowl selections and First-Team All-Pro honors in 2013. Selected third overall in the 2010 NFL Draft, McCoy recorded 59.5 career sacks while playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, and Las Vegas Raiders. Known for his explosive first step, relentless motor, and leadership both on and off the field, Gerald became a vital part of every defense he led. A proud Oklahoma City native and Southeast High School alumnus, Gerald has remained deeply connected to and continued investing in his hometown throughout his career. Since retiring from the NFL in 2021, he has transitioned into media, serving as a host on NFL GameDay Morning on NFL Network, along with numerous other appearances, including regular appearances across ESPN. He also hosts an annual free youth football camp in Oklahoma City through his Patricia Diane Foundation, which honors the legacy of his late mother. Join us for an evening of celebration, connection, and gratitude as we raise a glass to the years behind us, celebrate the people who have helped shape our community, and look forward to all that is ahead for South Oklahoma City.
