Sep 1 - Oct 5    Sign of the Times: The Great American Presidential Poster, 1844-2012 by Oklahoma City Community College
Historically, the ephemeral hardworking American political poster has been hiding in plain sight, attempting to catch our eye and capture our vote through the use of visual language. In a survey that spans the life of these ubiquitous messengers, Sign of the Times: The Great American Political Poster 1844/2012 explores a variety of styles, design trends, and printing technology that will delight your eye, engage your imagination, and lead you to ruminate over past political commitments. Sign of the Times features the most exciting and rarely seen posters created in the last 170 years and opens September 1, 2021 at Oklahoma City Community College. The exhibit is on view Monday through Friday, from Noon - 5 p.m. until October 5, 2021 in the OCCC Visual and Performing Arts Center's Inasmuch Gallery.

Join us to learn about strategies that may benefit you and potential legislation that could affect your ability to plan in the future.

Why is this book worth your time?

Humanocracy provides a terrific overview of organizational shifts over the last decades. It is filled with examples of success and failure, and it reinforces that anything taking away the true, full contribution of people is stifling and harmful. Authors Gary Hamel & Michele Zanini help us understand the progression (or regression) of organizational structure and get a grasp on why we are where we are now.

Oct 25    Energy Efficiency Tax Benefits: 179D & 45L by Eide Bailly

If you are constructing or renovating energy efficient commercial building property (EECBP) or residential property, there are tax credits and deductions you may be eligible to receive—and the benefits may even be getting better.

The Section 179D energy efficiency deduction is available to building owners or tenants paying for qualifying improvements. The deduction is worth up to $1.80 per square foot. In addition, the “designer” of government owned EECBP is eligible for the deduction. A designer creates the technical specifications for installation of the EECBP. This could include architects, engineers and contractors.

The 45L is an energy efficient home tax credit. Eligible builders may qualify for up to a $2,000 per unit tax credit for the construction or renovation of energy efficient residential properties.

If the Biden Tax Budget gets approved, the 179D deduction could increase to $3 per square foot and the 45L credit could increase to $2,500 and be extended an additional five years.

Learning Objectives:

  • Outline qualification and benefits of 179D and 45L
  • Review process to obtaining 179D and 45L
  • Discuss anticipated changes coming from the Biden Tax Budget

Oct 29    International Tax: Export Tax Incentives by Eide Bailly

As your business grows internationally, it is important to consider available tax incentives. During this webinar, we will explore two tax incentives available to exporters, IC-DISC and FDII. The Interest Charge Domestic International Sales Corporation, more commonly known as the IC-DISC, is an export incentive available for U.S. manufacturers, distributors, growers, and producers, as well as engineering and architectural service providers on foreign projects. The IC-DISC allows certain U.S. businesses to reduce their overall tax liability through a commission mechanism. Profitable businesses with at least $1 million of revenue from an exported product or service that is made primarily in the U.S. are prime candidates. Join us to learn more about this export incentive and how you can determine your eligibility. Foreign Derived Intangible Income (FDII) is a tax incentive available to C corporations that export goods or services. We will discuss what exports qualify for this benefit and how the benefit works.

Learning Objectives:

Oct 29    THE MIDTOWN MEN - Stars from the Original Broadway Cast of Jersey Boys* at Oklahoma City Community College

From Boys to Men. THE MIDTOWN MEN reunites Stars From The Original Cast of Broadway’s Jersey Boys, making them the first vocal group ever formed by the principal cast of a high-profile Broadway show. After sharing the stage for over a thousand performances, Tony® Award winner Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Reichard and Tony® Award nominee J. Robert Spencer decided to take their signature sound and chemistry to audiences everywhere, bringing to life their favorite 1960s hits.

The New York Times says, “Sidling up to the microphone, the singers had the air of the Rat Pack, Motown and a nightclub act rolled into one,” while the New York Daily News proclaims, “The Midtown Men sound as crisp as their Rat Pack-inspired suits. Their voices blend together so flawlessly on stage.” After a recent performance with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, The Oklahoman praised the Midtown Men for “a joyous and nostalgic trip through the music of the 1960s with terrific orchestral charts,” adding, “this high-spirited evening kicked the audience’s adrenaline into overdrive."
