Moore Norman Technology Center - South Penn Campus welcomes the community to an open house to celebrate the completion of a new all-in-one classroom space and safe room made possible through the bond approved by voters in 2016. The South Penn Campus construction project is comprised of 5,965 square feet of classroom/safe room space. Two multi-purpose classrooms can be configured to serve a variety of learning environments. The third is specifically designed for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program. Inside the EMT classroom, visitors will have an opportunity to see first-hand the new Simulator Solutions Platinum Real Motion Ambulance Simulator. The simulator operates on pneumatic movement and gives EMT students an opportunity to learn skills and techniques as if they were in the field. “The simulator recreates a vehicle in motion and allows students to practice their skills on a manikin while experiencing movement as if they were riding in an ambulance,” said Katie Reynolds, MNTC adult development coordinator who oversees the EMT program. “It’s one thing to learn in a controlled classroom setting, but the simulator gives our students the opportunity to practice their skills on bumpy roads, through abrupt stops and starts, and other unpredictable road conditions that could impact patient care en route to the hospital."
